Biden criticizes Trump's misleading statements about hurricanes

Washington [US], October 10: US President Joe Biden has strongly criticized Mr. Trump for spreading a series of false information about the White House's response to Hurricane Helene and preparations for the superstorm Milton.
President Biden said at a press conference at the White House on October 9 : "Over the past several weeks, there has been a reckless, irresponsible, and relentless spread of misinformation, even outright lies."
"These lies have undermined confidence in the rescue and recovery effort. They are harmful to those who need help the most. There is simply no place for this to happen," Mr. Biden said, according to ABC News.
Mr. Biden has criticized some specific misinformation spread by Mr. Trump or Republicans, including misinformation about Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) aid funds.
"Former President Trump led the charge of lies. They made claims that assets were being seized. That was completely untrue," Biden said.
"Trump and the Republicans say people affected by the hurricane will only receive $750 in cash and nothing else. They say money that should be used to respond to the hurricane is being diverted to immigrants. That's also not true," Biden asserted.
Mr. Trump has not yet responded to the above statement.
President Biden also pushed back against Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a close Trump ally who has promoted a conspiracy theory on social media that the federal government has technology to control weather patterns.
In addition, Mr. Biden also warned that Hurricane Milton was "like the storm of the century" and called on Floridians (USA) in affected areas to evacuate immediately, while emphasizing that Vice President Kamala Harris and he would always support this area.
Earlier, Ms. Harris promised to punish anyone who raised the price of essential items such as food, fuel and accommodation when Hurricane Milton made landfall in the state of Florida. Mr. Biden also postponed his trip to Germany and Angola on October 8 to respond to Hurricane Milton and to deal with the consequences of Hurricane Helene , according to AFP.
