Amsterdam [Netherlands], October 8: Reuters reported that Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on October 6.
In Kyiv, Brekelmans said he would invest 400 million euros in an advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program with Ukraine and would provide more F-16 fighters to Kyiv. The Netherlands would use half of the money, with the rest going to Ukraine and other countries to cooperate in the production of various types of UAVs for different purposes. Amsterdam has pledged 10 billion euros in military aid to Kyiv since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and has so far spent 4 billion euros.
Also during his visit to Kyiv, Mr. Brekelmans confirmed that the Netherlands has delivered the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The Netherlands is providing spare parts, ammunition and fuel for the F-16s, and is also increasing the training of Ukrainian pilots.
