UN Security Council condemns terror attack in Iran

New York [US], October 31: Members of the United Nations Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on a patrol unit of the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Joharkouh area of Taftan city in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province last Saturday, which resulted in the killing of 10 Iranian law enforcement personnel.
In a statement issued today, Wedenesday, the members of the Council expressed their condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and to the people and government of Iran.
They affirmed that terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, poses one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, emphasising the need to hold accountable those responsible for, organising, financing, and supporting these heinous acts of terrorism and to bring them to justice.
The members of the Council concluded their statement by calling for all states to combat the threats to international peace and security arising from terrorist acts by all means, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and other obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law, and international humanitarian law.
